Singing Sanctuary founder Patti Low

Have you ever wanted to sing, but lack the confidence? Are you a professional singer with vocal problems, or just wishing to strengthen your vocal technique and repertoire?

You have come to the right place.

I have developed a vocal training method, split into 4 separate modules:

  • Breathing & Long Notes

  • Arpeggios

  • Scales

  • Intervals

My lessons combine techniques used by professional singers the world over, in all genres from Jazz to Opera.

I focus on Fundamentals like breathing, timing, tuning and flexibility, as these are essential for further development, and will ensure that the voice appears consistently powerful and clean.

Mix Voice = "Everything"

Patti Low-The Singing Sanctuary-performing

In Pop music “everything is Mix voice” ie. the elimination of the bridge - that pesky gap that connects the chest voice with the head voice.

While vocal artistry,  like running up and down scales and hitting high notes is a trademark for some vocalists , the main bulk of a modern vocal performance is always about the MixVoice - The flavour, the power, the glide and the vibrato.

If you want to be smooth you got to be consistent.

Locating and polishing your mix voice is a direct result of working correctly with the Fundamentals, and will result in elimination of nasal tones, shrill top end, thin chest voice, and help to control of vibrato.

The Recording Voice

Once the Basics are covered, your magical journey into creative singing begins.

Explore the dynamics and flavours of your voice - in any genre you choose.

Know your range: Switch at will from head voice to mix,- and chest voice.

Add breath, vibrato, power and intricate phrasing.

Incorporate arpeggios, leaps and riffs into your Improvisation.

Evaluate and chose a repertoire based on the knowledge of your voice.

Enjoy the freedom to sing with no limitations.

My lessons work as one-to-one private tuition and targeted group workshops.

Improve your performance alongside fellow singers.

In my Workshops you can work on your skills, as a lead singer as well as a backing vocalist.

Intense harmony training, stage craft, vocal blend, mic techniqe, stage choreography and aesthetic space, plus all the final polishing that has to be done in preparation for a performance.

We occasionally go away for a few days too, Singing camp is a totally amazing experience, living and breathing music  with the people of your own age and ability  is incredibly educational and also great fun.

Performances are usually 3 times a year, or really, whenever we feel we are ready.

RECORD YOUR VOICE

Studio Sessions

By recording regularly, my students gain true insight into a professional studio situation, acquiring the skills needed to handle a super sensitive studio microphone with precision and confidence.

You'll learn all about:

  • Tracking

  • Harmonies.

  • Blending

  • Delivery.

  • Mic Technique

  • Drop Ins

Studio performances are somewhat different from singing live.

A recording session relies on common studio practices and traditions. Refined technique, stamina and a thorough musical understanding of what's required is essential for a successful out come of the session thus increasing the possibility of being called back for future work.

In my recording sessions I simulate this experience by using an industry standard condenser microphone (Neumann U87) and professional recording software (LogicX).

Correct  your mistakes and monitor your progress.

Listening back to a vocal recording is very revealing and a valuable tool on the path to improvement.
